Riverview

1. Bass Pro Shop is opening June 6. It is expected to draw shoppers from all over the western United States.

2. Quality car dealerships are considering moving to Riverview. These are

big sales tax generators.

3. Office buildings are planned for this area,

as well as the retail businesses.

4. Hotels are interested in building there.

Waveyard

1. A proposed water park adjacent to Riverview.

2. Waveward developers are willing to build next to our water treatment plant.

3. It will include white-water kayaking, rafting, scuba diving and surfing. Also retail shopping.

4. Developers are meeting with neighborhoods now. They have had very positive response from the neighbors!

5. This is a $250 million project.

6. This development is drawing interest from some big resort hotels who want to be part of it.

7. Mesa citizens will vote on this in November.

Water Concerns

1. Mesa has been very good in managing its water resources.

2. We now have enough water in Mesa for those who are here now.

3. Looking forward 25 years, if Mesa reaches anticipated build-out, we still have enough water in place.

4. Waveyard will not use as much water as the golf course it would replace.

Other Issues

1. Prop. 207 waivers

2. Code compliance

3. Neighborhoods have become a significant focus for the city.

4. Irresponsible property owners will be assessed big fines.

5. Halfway houses

6. Mesa Arts Center -- It’s paid for.

It is used by thousands of people every week.

7. Site 17 - SW corner of Mesa Drive and University. Developers are proposing projects for that area.

Something will be happening there soon.

County Republicans

**Sandy Doty, Maricopa County Republican Committee Member-at-Large

1. They have a website, www.MaricopaGOP.org.

2. It has many tools for precinct committeemen. For example, it tells what properties have recently sold, so PCs can approach new neighbors for voter registration.

3. Ms. Doty is a “Minuteman”. She talked of many border issues and showed photos demonstrating the problems.
