Notes from the District 18 Executive Board Meeting

Executive Board Members

Present: Jeff Groscost, Ken Bond, Fred Ash, and Mary Jo Vecchiarelli

Absent: Linda Ash, Joe Brown, Galen Updike

Other PC’s Present: Paul and Joanne Knowles 

Calendar 

Our December meeting will be a Holiday Party, possible with several districts. Charlie Hendrix has agreed to be our liaison.

The date is December 3 – the First Wednesday in December.

Districts 18-19-22-21 will be included - Location TBD

In January we will be having County and State meetings, therefore we will not meet as a District.

January 10       County Meeting at Mesa Community College

January 24       State Meeting - Location TBD

In February the program will be oriented to City Issues and Candidates.

 Jeff will organize the program.

PC Recruitment 

Jeff distributed new forms that should be used for PC recruitment. Nominating petitions and affidavits are no longer needed for an appointment as a PC.

College Republicans

JT Ready is organizing a group of College Republicans. Currently we are being charged $150/night to use the room at Mesa Community College. Once a student club is formed we will be able to use the room free of charge. If you know of any individuals who are students at Mesa Community College please email their name and contact information to Mary Jo or JT Ready. Students do not need to live in our District in order to participate in the College Republicans Club.

Financial Report

Ken was presented with an invoice from the Knowles for hosting the web-site. Ken indicated that he could not pay any more bills because our account was very low on funds. Jeff indicated that there is a dispute with MCC over a charge for the room in July. Jeff is working to clear up the misunderstanding. Jeff indicated that he was going to appoint Dana Duncan as a new PC and finance chair who would have the responsibility to find individuals to donate to our club treasury.

Mary Jo shared the information about the Mesa Republican Women’s meeting and the opportunity to receive .75/ signature for the referendum to reverse the Clean Elections Bill. Jeff indicated that there are problems with the timing of the referendum.

Vote Vault

The county has a new method of keeping voter lists. Someone from our district needs to be trained.

Web site 

Check out the web site, Paul &n Joanne Knowles are doing some amazing things. We can now broadcast, send and receive email through our district web site.

PND

Jeff indicated that  the county party is interested in find a fine the Party Not Designated voters (PND) and turn them into Republicans.

$1/per

The State party is paying $1 for every new Republican voter we register.

Walking Lists

Galen had the walking lists for the district and distributed a copy to the PC captain. Does Galen still have the copies that were not distributed? How can PC’s get copies of the walking lists?

Lincoln Day Dinner 

Linda Ash was appointed to be the liaison for the Lincoln Day Dinners. See what happens when you miss a meeting!

Credentials

The Credentials Committee (typically the Knowles family + others) of 4 people need to have their names submitted to the Republican Party for the January 10th meeting.  Please contact Paul or Joanne Knowles if you are interested.

State Fair  

District 18’s day at the Fair is Monday, October 20 from noon to 10pm. We need to fill up 2 people per time slot. Ken Bond is in charge of organizing this activity. There are free parking passes available.
